Luxol St. Andrew’s claim Enemed Futsal League championship

Luxol St Andrew’s won the Enemed Futsal League when in a very exciting final they saw off University of Malta ACJ Group 4-3 after extra time.

This was the second final between these two teams as in the first game the St Andrew’s side won 4-1. However, UoM were now a completely different side, proving to be a tough nut to crack for their opponents, forcing extra time after equalizing the score two seconds from the end.

It was Raimundo Nonato who put University on top but Luke Gatt tied the score before the end of the first half. In the second half, Luxol came out determined and took the lead through Mark Zammit after receiving well from Everton Veve.

As Luxol were ready to celebrate, University of Malta scored two seconds from the end as Steven Camilleri fired a shot with Emil Raducu who deflected the ball inside for an own goal.

The game went to extra time and here Luxol scored two more goals through Andre Ciancio and Maicon for 4-2.

A minute and a half before the end of the match, University of Malta ACJ Group reduced the score through Raimundo Nonato and despite their last efforts they did not manage to equalize.

It was here that the celebrations of the Luxol players, managers and fans could begin, which culminated with the presentation of the cup by FMA president Mark Borg to Luxol captain Mark Zammit.
