Neighbours Naxxar Lions and Mosta will be seeking their first points on Friday as they cross swords in the opening match from match day 2 of the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the National Stadium. Birkirkara take on newly-promoted Zabbar St. Patrick in the second match.
Naxxar and Mosta both lost in their first outing. The Lions saw Hibernians come from behind to defeat them 2-1 while Mosta lost 0-2 to Sliema Wanderers despite the latter played for a whole forty five minutes in ten men. Both sides are therefore eager to collect their first points and doing so in the derby would have added value.
Goalkeeper David Udoh Akpan is ruled out for Mosta as he serves a one-match ban.
Meanwhile Birkirkara will be aiming for a first win as they face newly-promoted Zabbar St. Patrick.
The Stripes earned a point in a 3-3 draw with Balzan as Maxuell Samurai turned out as the hero with a hat-trick. Zabbar, on the other hand, lost 1-3 to Hamrun Spartans and are therefore keen to claim their first point or points.
