Despite playing in ten men for over an hour, two goals in the first six minutes enabled Balzan to beat Naxxar Lions 2-0 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Thursday.
Balzan, therefore, returned to winning ways after the defeat to Sliema Wanderers last week. Naxxar, on the other hand, suffer a second defeat in three matches.
Naxxar coach George Vella named once again an unchanged side. Balzan, on the other hand, had Mosawer Ahadi replacing Gary Camilleri.
Balzan had a perfect start, taking the lead on 4 minutes when off a Nikola Zerjal cross, Udoyen Akpan beat goalkeeper Matthias Debono.
Two minutes later, a Zerjal effort was partially saved by Matthias Debono and Pedro Vitor was unlucky to commit an own goal, deflecting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Jan Busuttil was sent off for Balzan on 28 minutes after receiving a second yellow card. However they managed to hold on well to take home the three points.
