Under-19 coach Paul Gatt names squad for Bulgaria friendlies

Malta U19 Coach Paul Gatt has announced his 29-man squad for the upcoming friendly double-header against Bulgaria U19.

The two matches will take place on Saturday 7th September at 20:15 and Monday 9th September at 19:30, both at the Malta FA Training Grounds.

These fixtures will serve as a good opportunity for Gatt to assess the squad as the team gears up for the UEFA European U19 Championship Qualifiers in October, where Malta has been drawn against Poland, Turkiye, and Gibraltar.

Malta U19’s previous outings came in the form of two friendlies at home against Albania U19, which finished in a 1-0 win to the visitors and a dramatic 2-2 draw.

The squad features a number of players who have kicked off their seasons in top form for their respective clubs, including the likes of Floriana FC’s Antiago De Flavia, who has already scored four goals in the opening two games of the season.

Kai Bartolo and Drew Sammut, who play for Wealdstone FC (ENG) and Nepean FC (AUS) respectively, are the only two players based abroad who have been called up to the squad.
