Birkirkara bow out of UEFA Women’s Champions League after defeat to Anderlecht

Birkirkara will be facing Anderlecht in the final of Group 4 of Round 1 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2024/25 after defeating FK Breznica 2-1 after extra-time at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday.

Amelie Delabre put Anderlecht ahead on 16 minutes and a few minutes later, the Stripes were unlucky to lose captain Stephania Farrugia injured. 

Six minutes in the second half, Marie Minnaert doubled the score and two minutes later, Luna Vanzeir made it 3-0.

In added time, the Belgian champions added two more goals courtesy of MaximeBennink and Laurie Teinturier.
