Jurgen Degabriele brace hands Hibernians fine win over Hamrun

Hibernians registered a second successive win as a brace by Jurgen Degabriele handed them a 2-0 win over Hamrun Spartans in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

A win which puts Branko Nisevic’s side in second place, two points behind Birkirkara and two ahead of Floriana and Sliema Wanderers, leaving the Spartans in fifth place on 11 points. For Hamrun, this was the second defeat this season.

The Paolites took the lead on 17 minutes when off a cross by Alex Bruno from the left, there was a short clearance by a defender and Jurgen Degabriele beat goalkeeper Henry Bonello with a fine curling shot.

Four minutes in the second half, Hibernians doubled the score when a cross from the right was not cleared by either Juan Corbalan or Joseph Mbong and Jurgen Degabriele had the easiest of jobs in beating Bonello from close range.
