Poland prove too strong for Under-19 national team

The Malta Under-19 national team, led by Paul Gatt, lost 0-6 to hosts Poland in match day 1 of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Round 1 Group 4 at the Stadion Miejski in Mielec on Wednesday.

The hosts forged ahead on the half hour thanks to Daniel Mikołajewski and just before the end of the first half, the same player doubled the score. Igor Orlikowski made it 3-0 on 59 minutes and three minutes later, Mikołajewski completed his hat-trick.
Eight minutes from time, substitute Alan Rybak extended the lead with another substitute Kacper Nowakowski adding another three minutes later.

Malta plays the second game on Saturday against Türki̇ye. Türki̇ye defeated Gibraltar 7-0 in another match on Wednesday.
