Malta defeats Gibraltar in UEFA Under-19 Championship

The Malta Under-19 national team ended Group 4 of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Round 1 on a high after defeated Gibraltar 2-1 at the Stadion Miejski in Mielec, Poland on Tuesday.

Thomas Melillo put Malta ahead on 18 minutes but Gibraltar equalised thanks to a Lee Chipolina penalty eight minutes in the second half. However, Malta regained the lead courtesy of a Nicholas Agius penalty on 73 minutes.

Therefore the team led by Paul Gatt ended its commitments in third place behind group winners Poland and runners-up Turkey.
