BOV Challenge League: Fine win for Pieta’ Hotspurs over Tarxien

Pieta’ Hotspurs joined Valletta on top the BOV Challenge League as they registered a fine 3-1 win over Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Daneel Abela put the Hotspurs ahead on the 22nd and Emmanuel Bio doubled the score on the hour. Gabriel Xuereb made it 3-0 on the 66th but an own goal enabled Tarxien to reduce the gap one minute later.

A Sulahmana Mamadu Bah hat-trick handed Zurrieq a 3-1 win over Gudja United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Bah scored on the 12th, 44th and 50th with Jeremy Delmar pulling one back nine minutes from time.

A Jurgen Suda penalty on the 6th and a goal by Samuel Boakye on the 59th enabled Mgarr United to beat Mtarfa 2-0 in another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

At the Centenary Stadium, St. Andrews and Sirens shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, goals by Trezeguet Zammit for Sirens on the 57th and Owen Magro for St. Andrews one minute from time.

Valletta and Pieta’ lead the way with 9 points, followed by Swieqi, Mgarr and Tarxien on 7, Marsa, Zurrieq and Gudja 6, Senglea, St. Andrews and Sirens 5, Zebbug and Fgura 3, Mtarfa, Santa Lucia and Lija 0.
