Dingli Swallows suffered their first defeat in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 as they were beaten 2-4 by St. George’s at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Matthew Robert Gauci put the Saints ahead on the 13th and six minutes later, Erson Schembri doubled the score. Nicholas Zammit reduced the gap on the 32nd but Kurt Zahra made it 3-1 for St. George’s. Julien Iwueke extended the lead on the 70th but Ronaldinho Nathaniel Daley converted a penalty for the Swallows.
Kalkara United joined Dingli in second place as they beat Mdina Knights 2-0 at the Sirens Stadium thanks to an Aaron Hili penalty on the 18th and Mark Martin on the 77th.
In another match at the Luxol Stadium, Aaron Agius notched a hat-trick in a 3-0 win for Ghaxaq over Ta’ Xbiex. Following a goalless first half, Agius opened the score on the 59th, converted a penalty on the 70th before scoring another goal two minutes from time.
