Hibernians bounced back from the defeat to Mosta last week as they scored twice in the first half to beat Melita 2-0 in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Friday.
The Paolites move at least temporarily in second place, five points behind leaders Birkirkara. Melita, on the other hand, suffer their fourth defeat this season to stay seventh
Hibernians had a perfect start, taking the lead after just two minutes when off a Jurgen Degabriele freekick from the right, Kurt Shaw headed the ball home past goalkeeper Gosef Mizzi.
Five minutes from the end of the first half, the Paolites doubled the score courtesy of Jurgen Degabriele who flicked the ball home off a Giannis Bastianos cross from the left.
