Qormi and Luqa St. Andrew’s joined Attard in third place in the IZIBET Amateur League 1, two points behind joint-leaders Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Vittoriosa Stars as they registered wins on Sunday.
Qormi beat Marsaskala 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Cadu put Qormi ahead on the 11th and Jake Bone doubled the score on the 34th. James Oghenekewaro converted a penalty for Marsaskala seven minutes in the second half but Cadu made it 3-1 two minutes later.
On the other hand, Luqa St. Andrew’s beat Rabat Ajax 3-1 at the Luxol Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Andrea Azzopardi put Luqa ahead twelve minutes in the second half and ten minutes from time, Bydasser Sammut doubled the score. Jake Cordina converted a penalty for Rabat two minutes in added time but Nathan Frendo sealed the issue with a third goal two minutes in added time.
Birzebbuga and Vittoriosa lead the way with 13 points, followed by Attard, Luqa and Qormi on 12, Xghajra 11, San Gwann 10, Mellieha 7, Qrendi and Kirkop 6, Gharghur and Pembroke 3, Zejtun 2, Marsaskala and Msida 1 and Rabat 0.
