BOV Challenge League: Valletta return to winning ways

Valletta returned to winning ways in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Fgura United 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Aidan Jake Friggieri put the Citizens ahead on the 35th. Jake Azzopardi doubled the score eight minutes in the second half and one minute in added time, James Scicluna scored the third goal.

Mtarfa claimed their first three points thanks to a 2-1 win over Lija Athletic at the Centenary Stadium. Darren Falzon put Mtarfa ahead on the 23rd and although Erjon Beu levelled matters thanks to a penalty on the 84th, Zeron Azzopardi notched the winner two minutes in added time.

Goals by Sebastian Grech on the 37th and Sulahmana Mamadu Bah on the 89th handed Zurrieq a 2-0 win over St. Andrews at the Centenary Stadium while in another match at the same venue, Swieqi United and Mgarr United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Pieta’ and Valletta lead the way with 15 points, followed by Tarxien on 13, Zurrieq 12, Marsa and Swieqi 11, Sirens 9, Mgarr 8, Gudja 7, Fgura 6, St. Andrews and Senglea 5, Zebbug, Lija and Santa Lucia 4 and Mtarfa 3.
