St. George’s and Siggiewi moved third in the IZIBET Amateur League 2 following the two matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
In the first match, Siggiewi defeated Mdina Knights 3-1. Jacob Vincent Magri put Siggiewi ahead on the 26th but Jean Scholey equalised on the 78th. However Isaac Ansanyi scored twice on the 84rd and 93rd to hand Siggiewi the three points.
In another match, St. George’s rescued a point in a 2-2 draw with Ghaxaq.
Clive Fenech put Ghaxaq ahead on the 34th and just before half-time, an own goal put them two goals ahead. Owen Galea reduced the gap on the 73rd and one minute in added time, a Kurt Zahra penalty restored equilibrium.
Victoria Hotspurs lead the way with 15 points, followed by Kalkara on 12, St. George’s and Siggiewi 10, Mqabba, Mdina and Dingli 9, Ghaxaq 5, Ta’ Xbiex and Sta. Venera 0.
