Malta will be facing either Latvia or Luxembourg in the League C/D play-offs which will put against each other the two best-ranked fourth-placed teams from League C and the two runners-up from League D.
Although the League C/D play-offs will take place on Thursday 26 and Tuesday 31 March 2026, the draw is scheduled for Friday 22 November.
Latvia and Luxembourg were the two best-ranked teams among the teams finishing fourth in the respective groups in League C. Azerbaijan and Lithuania were relegated automatically.
Luxembourg earned three points in Group C3 which included Northern Ireland, Bulgaria and Belarus thanks to away draws with Bulgaria and Belarus and a draw at home with Northern Ireland.
Latvia, on the other hand, obtained four points in a group which included North Macedonia, Armenia and the Faroe Islands. They obtained the points in a home win and an away draw in the two games with the Faroe Islands.
