Women’s Futsal: Decider necessary between Mtarfa, Santa Margherita

As the first round of the Enemed Women’s Futsal League came to an end, a decider is necessary between Mtarfa and Santa Margherita in order to determine the fourth team to qualify for the final play-offs.

This was the result of Santa Margherita’s 6-4 win over Mtarfa 6-4 to join them on the nine-point mark.

The first half was a balanced affair with the score 2-2. It was only in the second half, that Santa Margherita took advantage of the opportunities that had to win this match. Estefany Kalamenarez and Audrey Chetcuti scored two goals each with Kirsty Paris and Rohanne Zahra scoring the other two goals for Santa Margherita. Janice Pace scored three goals for Mtarfa with Demi Magrin adding another.

Meanwhile the teams confirmed for the play-offs are champions Lija Women Futsal, Swieqi United Women’s Futsal LEC 07 and Zero Sei.

Lija won the direct challenge against Swieqi United Women’s Futsal LEC 07 4-1. Lija scored four goals in the first part of the game and it was only at the end that the Owls reduced the arrears.

Hailey Russell scored two goals while Ruth Steer Cheetham and Juciela Vale scored the other goals for Lija. Vanessa Honorio Carneiro scored the only goal for Swieqi.

Referees were Andrea Naudi and Jonathan Balzan.

Zero Sei secured third place after beating Iklin Futsal 5-1. Danna Fuentes and Elisa Czik scored a double each with Rebecca Zammit also finding the back of the net. An own goal by Dorienne Grech helped Iklin reduce the margin of the score.
