Floriana joined Birkirkara on top the 360Sports Malta Premier Opening Round Top 6 table after defeating Sliema Wanderers 1-0 at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
Floriana, in fact, join Birkirkara on the 32-point mark, just before the two teams cross swords in the final match from the Opening Round this weekend. Sliema Wanderers, on the other hand, remain third, on level points with Hibernians.
The Greens scored the all-important goal two minutes from the end of the first half when Emerson Souza exchanged the ball with Matias Garcia and entered the area before rounding a defender and beating goalkeeper Emeka Kelvin Agu.
Two minutes in added time, Floriana had substitute Fernandinho sent off after receiving two yellow cards.
