Holders Sliema Wanderers drawn with Ghajnsielem in Meridianbet FA Trophy Round of 32

Holders Sliema Wanderers drawn with Gozitan side Ghajnsielem as the draws for the Meridianbet FA Trophy Round of 32 and Round of 16 were held at the Centenary Hall on Wednesday. The draws were held by Malta FA Director Football Operations Stephen Azzopardi assisted by Meridianbet Operations Manager Byron Falzon and former Malta international player Andrew Cohen.

In the draw were the seven teams who qualified from the Preliminary Round – Sirens, Swieqi United, Valletta and Zebbug Rangers from the Challenge League, Mellieha from the Amateur League 1, Victoria Hotspurs from the Amateur League 2 and SK Victoria Wanderers from the Gozitan First Division along with BOV Challenge League sides Fgura United, Gudja United, Lija Athletic, Marsa, Pieta’ Hotspurs, St. Andrews and Zurrieq, IZIBET Amateur League 1 sides and BOV Amateur Cup semi-finalists Attard and Qrendi and BOV Gozo Football League First Division sides Ghajnsielem, Qala Saints, Xaghra United and Xewkija Tigers together with the twelve teams from the 360Sports Malta Premier. However, the top six teams in the Premier League last season were seeded.

In the Round of 32, there will be three clashes between Premier League sides Naxxar Lions vs Melita, Marsaxlokk vs Mosta and Birkirkara vs Balzan.

Hamrun Spartans face Swieqi United, Hibernians take on Zebbug Rangers, Zabbar St. Patrick meet Lija Athletic, Gzira United face Gudja United while Floriana host Gozitan side Xewkija Tigers.

Round of 32 matches will be played between January 10 and 12. On the other hand, Round of 16 matches are scheduled for February 4 to 6.
