BOV Challenge League: Swieqi United move second

Swieqi United moved second, on level points with Marsa, in the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Mtarfa 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Daniel Agius put Swieqi ahead on 16 minutes and Nicholas Pisani doubled the score on the 37th. Ten minutes in the second half, Daren Falzon converted a penalty to pull one back for Mtarfa.

Gudja United registered a 4-2 win over St. Andrews in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Nicholas Gauci put Gudja ahead on 47 minutes but three minutes later, Ricardo Correa levelled matters. Willian restored the lead for Gudja on 51 minutes and although Owen Magro restored equilibrium ten minutes later, goals by Diego on the 66th and Dale Mifsud six minutes from time handed Gudja the three points.

A goal by Gabriel Mensah on the 19th and a Dacosta Boadu penalty just before half-time handed Tarxien Rainbows a 2-0 win over Senglea Athletic at the Victor Tedesco Stadium while in another match, Mgarr United and Fgura United shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Valletta lead the way with 22 points, followed by Marsa and Swieqi on 18, Gudja 17, Mgarr, Zurrieq, Tarxien and Pieta’ 16, Sirens 15, Santa Lucia 13, Zebbug, Fgura and St. Andrews 9, Senglea 6, Lija 5 and Mtarfa 4.
