Five new signings for Floriana

Floriana FC announced the signing of five new players, namely Canadian goalkeeper Yann-Alexandre Fillion, Argentine left back Gonzalo Julian Gamarra Leyton, Colombian defensive midfielder Jork Eblin Becerra Portocarrero, Bolivian left winger Gabriel Agustín Sotomayor Cardozo and Brazilian attacking midfielder Fernando José Gomes Júnior.

Twenty eight year old Fillon had started his career at Montreal Impact. He went on to play for FC Montreal in the US League before joining FC Zurich in Switzerland. He had spells on loan with Umea FC in Sweden, Nest-Sotra FK in Norway, FC Aarau in Switzerland and Toronto FC in the USA. He joined Ekenas IF in Finland and later played for AC Oulu and IFK Mariehamm before returning to Canada to join Halifax Wanderers.

Twenty five year old Gonzalo Gamarra will be returning to Malta after two spells with Senglea Athletic in seasons 2017/18 and 2018/19. A product of Boca Juniors, Later he joined FC Chiasso in Switzerland and eventurally Slaven Belupo and Inter Zapresic in Croatia, CA Guemes and CA Brown in Argentina.

Twenty six year old Jork Becerra is a product of Fortaleza CEIF, he also played for Zamora FC, Atlético Bucaramanga and CD Real Cartagena in Colombia before joining AP Brera Strumica in North Macedonia last summer.

Twenty five year old Gabriel Sotomayor, who recently made his debut for the Bolivia national team, played for La Paz and The Strongest in Bolivia.

On the other hand, thirty-year old Fernandinho starts his third spell in Malta after playing for Zejtun Corinthians in season 2020/21 and Marsaxlokk in season 2023/24. He played for Botafogo, Nautico and Brasil Pelotas in Brazil, Badak Lampung in Indonesia, Santo Andre and Vila Nova in Brazil, TRAU FC in India, Agua Santa in Brazil and PSIS in Indonesia.

The Greens had earlier announced that goalkeeper Saul Gracia, Fernandinho and Thiaguinho Santos were released by the club while Kyrian Nwoko was transferred to Sliema Wanderers. Mattia Veselji is set to complete a move to FK Smederevo in Serbia.
