Vittoriosa Stars took sole leadership in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Kirkop United 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Andre Gomes put Kirkop ahead on 5 minutes but Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe levelled matters on 17 minutes. Dale Tabone restored the lead for Kirkop on 28 minutes but an own goal just before half-time restored equilibrium. Paul Odunayo Aderbigbe notched the winner eleven minutes in the second half.
In another match, Pembroke Athleta defeated Gharghur 3-1.
Jamie Camilleri put Pembroke ahead on 7 minutes and a brace by Ryan Sciberras on 19 and 38 minutes increased the lead further with Isaac Chircop scoring a consolation goal for Gharghur five minutes in the second half.
Vittoriosa lead the way with 34 points, followed by San Gwann and Birzebbuga on 32, Attard, Luqa and Xghajra 27, Qrendi and Qormi 21, Zejtun 15, Kirkop 13, Mellieha 12, Pembroke 10, Marsaskala 9, Gharghur 7, Rabat 6 and Msida 3.
