Swieqi United joined Tarxien Rainbows in second place in the BOV Challenge League Top 8 as they came from behind to defeat Marsa 3-2 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Renan Sgaria put Marsa ahead on 11 minutes and Jake Engerer doubled the score ten minutes later. Aleksandar Katanic converted a penalty on 29 minutes and just before the end of the first half, Deacon Abela levelled matters. Matthew Spiteri notched the winner on 68 minutes.
On the other hand, Tarxien Rainbows were held in a goalless draw by Santa Lucia at the Centenary Stadium.
On the other hand, Mgarr United defeated Pieta’ Hotspurs 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Luka Mijic put Mgarr ahead on 16 minutes but Hidesato Ueda equalised on 31 minutes. Kyle Frendo restored the lead for Mgarr on 45 minutes and although Gabriel Xuereb restored equilibrium on 65 minutes, Kyle Azzopardi made it 3-2 two minutes in added time.
Valletta lead the way with 41 points, followed by Tarxien and Swieqi on 31, Marsa 29, Pieta’ 27, Mgarr and Santa Lucia 26 and Zurrieq 25.
In the Play-Out, Fgura United defeated Gudja United 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Michael Gatt put Fgura ahead after just two minutes and Matthew Brincat converted a penalty to double the score with Dylan Caruana making it 3-0 on 45 minutes. Gudja reduced the gap with goals by Jeremy Delmar on 53 minutes and Shola Haruna Shodiya on 67 minutes.
On the other hand, Mtarfa defeated Lija Athletic 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Joseph Chilaka Agbakwuru put Mtarfa ahead on 19 minutes and Eric Mensah doubled the score on 57 minutes with Ronald Makalysten scoring a consolation goal on 68 minutes.
In the Play-Out, Fgura lead the way with 24 points, followed by Gudja on 22, Sirens 20, Zebbug 18, St. Andrews 13, Senglea and Lija 12 and Mtarfa 10.
