Swieqi United were crowned champions of the Asssikura Women’s League as they defeated Birkirkara 3-0 at the Dingli Ground on Saturday. 

Karima Abdulai put Swieqi ahead on 13 minutes. Rafanny Mendoza doubled the score on 78 minutes and Ema Micallef sealed the issue with a third goal seven minutes from time. 

This is the first league title for Swieqi who therefore managed to break Birkirkara’s dominance with the latter winning the championship year in year out since 2016/17 except for 2020/21 when the title was not awarded after being interrupted due to COVID.
