IZIBET Amateur League 1: Msida St. Joseph relegated

Msida St. Joseph were relegated to the National Amateur League 2 after losing 0-3 to Mellieha in a match from the IZIBET Amateur League 1 Play-Out at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.

Following a goalless first half, Wayne Chetcuti put Mellieha ahead on 47 minutes. Jake Saliba doubled the score on 78 minutes and Craig Cilia added another two minutes in added time.

Rabat Ajax are also close to being relegated after losing 1-4 to Qrendi at the Sirens Stadium. Ousman Ismaila put the Magpies ahead on 12 minutes but Brandon Bray equalised on 29 minutes and four minutes later, Christian Degabriele made it 2-1. Gianfranco Micallef sealed the issue with two late goals on 78 and 92 minutes.

Kirkop United earned three precious points in a 3-0 win over Gharghur at the Luxol Stadium thanks to a goal by Andre Gomes on 65 minutes and a brace by Scion Cassar Greh on 69 and 74 minutes.

In another match, Qormi rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Zejtun Corinthians at the Luxol Stadium, goals by Clyde Bouvet for Zejtun on 26 minutes and Jamie Lee Micallef for Qormi on 93 minutes.

Qormi lead the way in the Play-Out with 35 points, followed by Qrendi on 33, Mellieha 29, Zejtun 28, Kirkop 24, Marsaskala 19, Gharghur and Pembroke 16, Rabat 8 and Msida 5
