Kirkop United moved a step closer to securing their status in the IZIBET Amateur League 1 as they defeated Marsaskala 4-1 in a match from the Play-Outs on Friday.
Jean Paul Dimech put Marsaskala ahead on 39 minutes but Andre Gomes equalised one minute from the end of the first half and the same player made it 2-1 on 79 minutes. Neil Thomas Farrugia increased the lead on 83 minutes with Misael Tabone adding another deep in stoppage time.
On the other hand, Qormi defeated Pembroke Athleta 3-2. Kyle Sciberras Balbi put Pembroke ahead on the half hour but by the end of the first half, Qormi turned the score in their favour with goals by Warren Azzopardi and Kane Paul Farrugia in stoppage time. Cadu increased the lead on 76 minutes with Weverton Gomes reducing the gap one minute from time.
Qormi lead the way in the Play-Out with 38 points, followed by Qrendi on 33, Mellieha 29, Zejtun 28, Kirkop 27, Marsaskala and Pembroke 19, Gharghur 16, Rabat 8 and Msida 5.
