Swieqi United dropped another three points in the battle for promotion as they lost 0-1 to Pieta’ Hotspurs in a match from BOV Challenge League Top 8 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.
Arthur Felippe Stelmach scored the all-important goal for the Hotspurs on 70 minutes.
At the Centenary Stadium, goals by Andrea Zammit on 14 minutes, James Scicluna on 71 minutes and Jake Azzopardi on 80 minutes handed champions Valletta a 3-0 win over Santa Lucia.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Zurrieq defeated Mgarr United 2-0 thanks to goals by Xylon Portelli on 27 minutes and Sulahmana Mamadu Bah on 45 minutes.
Champions Valletta lead the way with 56 points, followed by Swieqi and Tarxien on 35, Pieta’ 34, Zurrieq and Santa Lucia 31, Mgarr 30 and Marsa 29.
In the Play-Out, Fgura United defeated Sirens 5-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Alan Abdel Rahman converted a penalty on 5 minutes and the same player doubled the score a minute later. Gilberto Carrara pulled one back on 17 minutes but Innocent John Awori made it 3-1 on 40 minutes. Andrew Xuereb and Dylan Caruana increased the lead with goals on 75 and 81 minutes.
In the Play-Out, Fgura lead the way with 36 points, followed by Gudja on 26, St. Andrews 25, Sirens 24, Zebbug 21, Lija 15, Mtarfa 14 and Senglea 13.
