IZIBET Amateur League 2: Victoria Hotspurs celebrate championship in style

Champions Victoria Hotspurs celebrated their title in style as they defeated runners-up Mqabba 4-0 in a match from the IZIBET Amateur League 2 Play-Offs at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Ferdinando Apap put the Hotspurs ahead on 27 minutes and one minute later, Dylan Mercieca doubled the score. Emmanuel Mbong made it 3-0 on 65 minutes and Kurt Borg sealed the issue with a fourth goal two minutes from time.

After the game, captain Ferdinando Apap was presented with the cup by Malta FA vice-president Dr Matthew Paris and a representative of IZIBET.

In another match, St. George’s defeated Kalkara United 3-2 at the Sirens Stadium. Timothy Thomas put Kalkara ahead when he converted a penalty on 20 minutes but Nathan Belhadj equalised on 33 minutes. Jaden Camilleri made it 2-1 on 61 minutes but Thomas levelled matters on 70 minutes. However, Jaden Camilleri notched the winner six minutes from time.

Victoria Hotspurs ended their commitments with 61 points, followed by Mqabba on 43, St. George’s 39 and Kalkara 37.
