Floriana FC have appointed Portuguese coach Augusto Daniel Portela da Silva as their new Head Coach for the 2025/26 season. Daniel Portela replaces Darren Abdilla who led the Greens to the Final Four of the 360Sports Malta Premier, finishing third in the final classification.
Fifty-seven year old Daniel Portela served as assistant coach at GD Joane, Os Sandinenses and Famalicao before taking over as caretaker manager at Famalicao. He led the Rio Ave Under-17 team, worked as assistant coach at Paredes, as coach of the Varzim Under-19 team and assistant coach of GD Interclube before joining Al Salmiya SC in Kuwait. He was head coach at FC Onze Bravos do Maquis in Angola and then joined Qadsia SC in Kuwait as assistant coach. He returned to Portugal to join Boavista as assistant coach and later coaches FC Chibuto in Mozambique. Portela joined Dibba Al-Hisn in the UAE as assistant coach. On his return to Portugal, he coached Salgueiros and then CD Fatima before moving to the UAE to join Al-Nasr where he served as coach of the Under-19 and Under-23 sides, assistant coach of the senior side and technical director.
