Hamrun Spartans signed Senegalese-Italian twenty one year old forward Serigne Saliou Mbacke Thioune.

Saliou Thioune started his career at Cittadella in Italy but then moved to Switzerland where he was on the books of Yverdon Sport, FC Paradiso and FC Locarno

The Spartans had earlier appointed Giacomo Modica as their new coach and signed Vincenzo Polito, Jonny Robert, Matias Garcia, Domantas Šimkus, Rafael Compri, N’Dri Koffi and Junior Djile with Steve Borg, Mattias Ellul, Mayron, Roko Prsa, Elionay, Mihael Klepac, Talison, Cesar Menachio and Raphael Lopes, not retained or moving elsewhere.
