The Malta FA welcomes Government’s decision to introduce a new category of sports visa for third-country athletes who travel to Malta for trials with local clubs.
This sports visa is aimed at regulating, monitoring and facilitating the work done by sports clubs through clear and strict rules. Further details were provided by Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment Dr Byron Camilleri during a press conference on Monday morning.
This is a landmark decision in Maltese sport as it will assist and facilitate, in the case of football, the transfer process of football players for all member clubs.
In the meantime the Malta FA shall resume discussions with IDENTITA’ with the aim to introduce other initiatives which abate bureaucratic obstacles.
Once again the Malta Football Association reiterates its appreciation towards this policy.
