Election for new Malta FA Vice-President to be held in next General Assembly

The Malta FA will be holding an election to fill the vacant Vice President role during the upcoming Ordinary General Assembly.

The vacant Vice President position is that previously occupied by Dr Maria Azzopardi, who officially resigned from the position earlier this month.

Dr Azzopardi had been elected as Vice President in March 2024, becoming the first female to occupy the role. However, in December 2024, she was nominated and appointed General Secretary of the Malta FA.

As a result, an election will be held during the next Ordinary General Assembly on 16th October 2025 as per Article 27 of the Malta FA Statute.

Nominations for the filling of the posts of Officers of the Association, may be made by any Member of the Association at least 19 days before the date scheduled for the General Assembly. This is provided that candidates fulfil the relevant applicable eligibility criteria.

Once the Vice President position is filled, he/she shall hold office until the General Assembly during which elections for the posts of the Officers of the Association are normally due to be held, in this case, 2028.

An internal circular will be sent to the members informing about the relevant vacancy and other statutory details. The election will be supervised by the Electoral Commission appointed by the Ordinary General Assembly of the Malta FA.
