Following the publication of ticket prices by the Malta Football Association for the upcoming home match against the Netherlands, South End Core made representations and sought clarifications.
In response, the MFA confirmed that standard ticket prices have been set at €40, €75, and €100 depending on category, while also outlining a number of initiatives aimed at easing access, including:
– 125 free tickets through an ongoing competition.
– Concessions, under 12 and over 60 are priced at 50% less the ticket price.
– A 50% discount on the subsequent game against Bosnia for all ticket holders of the Netherlands match.
– Special €5 tickets for nursery children.
– An allocation for member clubs and associations to purchase up to ten (10) tickets each at a 50% reduced rate.
– Additional free tickets distributed through the MFA’s Corporate Social Responsibility programmes to allow vulnerable groups to attend.
Whilst acknowledging these efforts, SEC remains concerned that the overall ticket prices are still high. SEC understands that inflation has inevitably affected costs, however we strongly believe in a fairer pricing strategy.
SEC additionally strongly appeals that going forward, schemes such as “the Goal Card” should be reintroduced to ensure that those who consistently support the national team are truly rewarded for their loyalty.
