Meridianbet FA Trophy 2025/26 Preliminary Round, Round of 32 draws

Floriana were paired with Marsaxlokk in the Meridianbet FA Trophy as the draws of the Preliminary Round and Round of 32 were held on Wednesday. 

The clash between Floriana and Marsaxlokk was the only one between two Malta Premier clubs.

The twelve Malta Premier clubs, the sixteen Challenge League teams and the four semi-finalists of the BOV Amateur Cup, namely Mqabba, Qormi, Pembroke Athleta and Victoria Hotspurs along with the Gozo First Division clubs take part in the FA Trophy.

Fourteen teams were drawn in the Preliminary Round to reduce the amount of participants to thirty two but the Malta Premier clubs were excluded from the Preliminary Round. Birkirkara, Floriana, Hamrun Spartans, Hibernians, Mosta and Sliema Wanderers were seeded, meaning that they could not be drawn against each other.

Holders Hibernians were drawn with Gudja, Mosta were paired with Mqabba, Birkirkara will be facing SK Victoria Wanderers, Sliema Wanderers will take on Swieqi United, Valletta were paired with Pembroke Athleta,Tarxien Rainbows will be facing Ghajrnsielem and Naxxar Lions were drawn with Marsa.

Hamrun Spartans will be facing the winner of the Gozitan clash between Victoria Hotspurs and Xaghra United, Gzira United will be facing St. Andrews or Vittoriosa Stars while Zabbar St. Patrick will be playing the winners of the clash between Melita and Xewkija Tigers.

In the other matches from the Round of 32, Mgarr United will be facing the winners of the clash between Zebbug Rangers and Qala Saints, Pieta’ Hotspurs face Mtarfa, Zurrieq take on Kercem Ajax, Fgura United face Sirens or Santa Lucia while the winner of the clash between Qormi or Balzan will face the winner of the clash between Nadur Youngsters and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s.

Preliminary Round matches are scheduled for December 6 and 7, the Round of 32 for January 3 and 4, the Round of 16 for January 27-29, the quarter-finals for March 3 and 4, the semi-finals for April 4 and the final for May 24.
