Gozitan side Qala Saints defeated BOV Challenge League side Zebbug Rangers 5-0 in one of the four matches from the Meridianbet FA Trophy Preliminary Round in programme on Saturday.
At the Centenary Stadium, Joseph Zammit put Qala ahead on 9 minutes and Ibrahim Mohammed doubled the score on 44 minutes. Mohammed made it 3-0 on 57 minutes and after Gabriel Cardona extended the lead on 73 minutes, Mohammed added another two minutes later.
In the Round of 32, Qala will be facing Mgarr United.
Another Gozitan side, Xewkija Tigers, eliminated BOV Challenge League joint-leaders Melita 1-0 after extra-time at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Brenner scored the all-important goal on 119 minutes.
The Tigers will be facing Zabbar St. Patrick in the Round of 32.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Santa Lucia beat Sirens 2-1 in a clash between two BOV Challenge League sides.
Masaaki Takahara put Santa Lucia ahead on 13 minutes and two minutes from the end of the first half, Jean Carlos converted a penalty. Isaac Schembri pulled one back three minutes in added time.
Santa Lucia will be facing Fgura United in the Round of 32.
At the Centenary Stadium, St. Andrews beat Vittoriosa Stars 3-0 to set up a clash with Gzira United.
Mattia Galliano put the Saints ahead on 16 minutes. Jeff Jadyn Sowah doubled the score on 71 minutes and three minutes later, Andrej Nakov made it 3-0.
