Mqabba took sole leadership in the BOV Amateur League I as they defeated Senglea Athletic 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium on Sunday.
Saturday Nanapere put Mqabba ahead on 69 minutes and Luka Mijic doubled the score on 77 minutes. Keith Muscat pulled one back for Senglea thanks to a penalty six minutes from time.
Attard, on the other hand, suffered a second successive defeat, losing 1-4 to neighbours Lija Athletic at the Centenary Stadium. Ross McParland put Lija ahed on 7 minutes and Omar Khatib doubled the score on 38 minutes. Leon Muscat made it 3-0 on the hour and ten minutes later, McParland added another. Lydon Cuschieri reduced the gap for Attard on 79 minutes.
San Gwann joined Mellieha in third place thanks to a 2-1 win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Sirens Stadium. Denislon Borg put San Gwann ahead on 20 minutes and although Matthew Farrugia equalised on 46 minutes, Matteo Vella notched the winner on 72 minutes.
Pembroke Athleta came from behind to beat Mellieha 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Alex Sander put Mellieha ahead on 55 minutes but Kyle Sciberras Balbi equalised on 63 minutes and Weverton made it 2-1 on 75 minutes.
In another match, Qrendi and Kirkop United shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium.
Mqabba lead the way with 15 points, followed by Attard on 12, San Gwann and Mellieha 10, Qormi and Qrendi 9, Pembroke 8, Kirkop, Victoria and Zejtun 7, Lija 5, Senglea, Xghajra and Luqa 4.
