Shakhtar Donetsk scored two quick-fire goals just past the hour to beat Hamrun Spartans 2-0 in a match from match day 5 of the UEFA Conference League league phase at the National Stadium.

Shakhtar Donetsk therefore sealed a spot in the Round of 16 while Hamrun were eliminated.

The Spartans produced another fine display, keeping their opponents at bay for an hour but the two goals ruined any chance  of gettng a positive result from the game and maintain alive of securing a play-off spot. 

However six minutes from half-time, Joseph Mbong served Ante Coric on the left but his attempt was turned into a corner by goalkeeper Kiril Fesiun. 

Nazaryna went close with a powerful shot from outside the area which was deflected into a corner on 27 minutes and two minutes later, Bodnar had a close-range header saved by goalkeeper Bonello.

Shakhtar took the lead on 61 minutes when off a cross from the left by Azarov, Luca Meirelles headed home past goalkeeper.

Three minutes later, the visitors doubled the score thanks to a shot by Isaque from the left after a clearance by Bonello was intercepted by the Shakhtar players.
