Balzan were held in a 1-1 draw by Santa Lucia in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Nicholas Pulis put Balzan ahead on 65 minutes nut Matthias Vella equalised four minutes from time.
Fgura United moved second thanks to a 4-1 win over Zurrieq in another match at the Centenary Stadium. Samuel Buhagiar put Fgura ahead on 11 minutes and Timilehin Caleb Akande converted a penalty on 26 minutes. Jhoel Sarraude reduced the gap on 47 mintues but Buhagiar scored again for Fgura on 54 minutes and Dylan Caruana made it 4-1 ten minutes from time.
Gudja United defeated Mtarfa 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium thanks to a penalty by Haruna Shola Shodiya on 15 minutes, a goal by Brandon Muscat on 39 minutes and a penalty by Donys Quintero on 61 minutes.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars defeated Zebbug Rangers 4-0 thanks to goals by Adrian Caruana on 28 minutes, Samuel Boakye on 52 minutes, an own goal on 67 minutes and Aidan Agius Gilford on 69 minutes.
Balzan lead the way with 23 points, followed by Fgura and Birzebbuga on 21, Melita 19, Gudja and St. Andrews 16, Sirens, Pieta’, Mgarr and Swieqi 14, Santa Lucia and Zurrieq 12, Vittoriosa 9, Marsa 6, Zebbug 1 and Mtarfa -3.
