Gzira United moved closer to securing a Top 6 finish as they defeated Hibernians 1-0 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
In fact, Gzira are now joint-third on 17 points, three ahead of Naxxar and four ahead of Valletta and Sliema Wanderers with the latter three having a game in hand. Hibernians, on the other hand, lie in ninth place on 11 points. For the Paolites, this was the fourth defeat in five matches.
Hibs were unlucky to hit the upright through Bjorn Kristensen towards the end of the first half but three minutes from time, Clayton Failla scored the all-important goal for the Maroons.
