Tarxien Rainbows revived hopes of avoiding being relegated automatically as they defeated neighbours Hibernians by the odd goal in five in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round Bottom 6 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday.
Although they are still second from bottom, Tarxien move to just two points behind Zabbar and Hibernians. However, Zabbar have a game in hand.
Hibs have now gone nine matches without a win, losing six.
Tarxien made their intentions clear right from the start, taking the lead after ten minutes thanks to a goal by Marko Musulin. Hibernians equalised through Miullen on 19 minutes and three minutes later, Charleston put them 2-1 ahead.
Just before the end of the first half, Claudio Murici converted a penalty to restore equilibrium and just past the hour, Angel Valverde made it 3-2 for Jacques Scerri’s side.
