A goal by Jurgen Gerada just before half time handed Dingli Swallows the points they needed to secure promotion to the National Amateur League 1 as they defeated Mdina Knights 1-0 at the Sirens Stadium in one of the three BOV Amateur League II matches in programme on Sunday.
Msida St. Joseph defeated Rabat Ajax 4-2 at the Luxol Stadium. Kurt Mifsud put Rabat ahead on 20 minutes but Daniel Calleja equalised on 35 minutes and Agatino Sicali converted a penalty two minutes from the end of the first half. Victor Ifeanyi Mbata levelled matters on 62 minutes but Msida scored through Matthew Schembri on 83 minutes and Taiwo David Akindele on the 90th.
In another match, goals by Matthew Buhagiar on the 6th and Antoine Attard on the 83rd an own goal on the 70th handed Ta’ Xbiex a 3-0 win over Gharghur at the Sirens Stadium.
Kalkara finish on top with 53 points, followed by Dingli on 49, Msida 48, Ta’ Xbiex 43, Mdina 41, Siggiewi 32, St. George’s 27, Rabat 26, Marsaskala and Gharghur 17, Sta. Venera and Ghaxaq 11.
