Four semifinals were played in the men’s Futsal competitions, confirming the finalists of the Challenge League and delivering the first results from the Premier Final Four.
In the elite futsal semifinals, University of Malta Futsal secured a 4-1 victory over Marsaskala in a match where the winners enjoyed the majority of possession. Despite the scoreline, Marsaskala showed strong defensive organization and remained competitive throughout. In the second semifinal, Luxol St Andrews completely dominated their clash against Birżebbuġa with an emphatic 11-1 win. The reigning champions demonstrated their full strength and experience, sending a clear statement to their rivals.
The second legs of the semifinals will be played on Friday, 1st May, and despite the first-leg results, everything is still open. A win in regular time could force extra time or even penalties, keeping all ties alive.
In the Challenge League semifinals, Malta Futsal U19 reached their first historic final after a commanding 11-0 victory over Sliema Fort Fitness Futsal. Luke Urpani was the standout performer, scoring four goals in an excellent display. In the other semifinal, Żejtun Corinthians defeated St Venera Lightnings 7-4 in an entertaining and goal-filled encounter. As a result, the Challenge League final will be contested between Malta Futsal U19 and Żejtun Corinthians, in what promises to be an exciting showdown for Maltese futsal fans.
