Hamrun finish sixth in Euro Winners Challenge 2026

Hamrun concluded their Euro Winners Challenge 2026 campaign in sixth place following a narrow 3-2 defeat against Greek side Kefallinia AO BS in the fifth-place play-off held in Nazaré, Portugal.

The match was closely contested, with Kefallinia opening the scoring through Katsoulis before William equalised for the Maltese side.

At the start of the third session, William scored his second goal of the match to put Hamrun ahead. However, Kefallinia responded immediately through Faros, while Karakasis netted the decisive goal to secure a 3-2 victory for the Greek team.

Despite the defeat, Hamrun can look back on their European campaign with satisfaction. After winning all their group-stage matches, they progressed to the quarter-finals and ultimately secured a respectable sixth-place finish in the competition.
