Hamrun Spartans have appointed Stefano Sanderra as their new Head Coach. He replaces Giacomo Modica whose contract was terminated by mutual consent.
This will be Sanderra’s second experience in Malta after leading Hibernians for four years between 2018 and 2022. With the Paolites, he won the championship in 2021/22. In 2022, he returned to Rome to join the Lazio primavera side, helping them to regain promotion from the Primavera 2 to the Primavera 1 and also led the team in the UEFA Youth League.
Sanderra had earlier coached L’Aquila, Isernia, Potenza, Frosinone, Tivoli, Cosenza, the Messina primavera side, Gela, Barletta, Cassino, Latina, Salernitana, Catanzaro, Viterbese, Sambenedettese and Racing Fondi.
The Spartans have so far signed Jake Grech, Ante Coric, Lucas Villela, Jack Ipalibo, Tobias Bjørnstad, Emmanuel Ernest and Messie Biatoumoussoka and renewed the contracts of Damir Ceter, Emerson Marcelina and Rafael Compri while confirming the departure of Henry Bonello and Joseph Mbong apart from Jonny, Mouad El Fanis, Blessing Eleke, Ivan Inzoudine and Michele Carboni.
