Mgarr United eliminated from UEFA Women’s Champions League

Mgarr United were eliminated from the UEFA Women’s Champions League after losing 6-1 to hosts Spartak Myjava of Slovakia in the final of the first qualifying round champions path mini tournament 5 at the Štadión Spartaka Myjava in Myjava, Slovakia on Saturday.

A penalty after just twelve minutes paved the way for the hosts who went on take a three goal lead before Carlyn Presley reduced the gap before the end of the first half. Spartak Myjava added another three goals in the second half. 

Andrea Bogorova put Spartak Myjava ahead when she converted a penalty on 12 minutes after Alejandra Villegas Caly brought Vredikova down inside the area. Sara Krsiakova doubled the score six minutes later and Katarina Vredikova made it 3-0 on 28 minutes. Mgarr reduced the gap three minutes from the end of the first half through Presley.

Eliska Dvorakova scored a fourth goal on 61 minutes and six minutes later, Madelyn Dougherty added another. An own goal by Yanina Mendez extended the lead further on 82 minutes and one minute from time, the same player received a second yellow card and was therefore sent off.
