Newly-promoted Balzan held Marsaxlokk in a 1-1 draw in a match from the VBET Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.
The Southseasiders took the lead during the first half but Balzan fought back to level matters mid-way through the second half.
Balzan coach Andrew Cohen handed Manuel Djalo, Nikola Djoric, Macula, Sekala Guehi, Isaac Davey, Nikola Ignjatovic and Leo Fernandes along with substitute Emmanuel Asante their debut.
On the other hand, Enzo Potenza named a typical formation for Marsaxlokk.
Marsaxlokk managed to break the deadlock on 36 minutes thanks to captain Nikolai Muscat who flicked the ball past goalkeeper Manuel Djalo following a cross from the right.
However, Balzan equalised on 73 minutes when off an assist by Oluwatobiloba Awosanya, substitute Jake Portelli beat goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi.
