The Malta national squad left Malta on Monday, destination Barcelona, where the team will continue preparations with a training session on Tuesday morning before travelling to Andorra in the evening.
Before the departure, national team head coach Emilio De Leo has trimmed the squad to 26 players ahead of Malta’s UEFA Nations League clash against Andorra, as the team prepares for Thursday’s encounter at the Estadi FAF Encamp in Andorra la Vella, with kick-off at 18:00.
Apart from Joseph Mbong who serves a one-match ban, the other players not to make the trip are Jayden Roe and Kevin Cannavo. The latter had just recovered from an injury which ruled him out the opening matches with La Spezia, making his first appearance during the weekend.
This means that now there are just four foreign-based players in the squad – goalkeeper James Sissons, Ilyas Chouaref, Irvin Cardona and Basil Tuma.
