EA has published the ratings for Maltese players in the new edition of the football simulator EA Sports FC 27. Irvin Cardona and Ilyas Chouaref lead the list, each receiving an overall rating of 72. At launch, nine players representing Malta were included in the database, with Jake Brimmer taking third place in the national ranking with a score of 65.
The figures are taken from EA’s official ratings page for Malta and reflect the squad of players present in the database at the time of the game’s launch. This page is the only verified source, as alternative lists circulating on social media contained inaccuracies.

The Same Overall Rating, but Completely Different Players
Irvin Cardona and Ilyas Chouaref share the top spot in the Maltese ratings with an overall rating of 72, yet their player profiles differ considerably. One embodies pace and attacking intensity, while the other comes across as more balanced and technically refined.
Cardona and His Devastating Pace
Irvin Cardona has been awarded an impressive 89 in the pace category, making him one of the fastest players on the Maltese page. His remaining attributes are as follows:
- 71 shooting
- 64 passing
- 71 dribbling
- 30 defending
- 74 physical
Chouaref Wins with Technique and Consistency
Ilyas Chouaref, by contrast, stands out for having the highest dribbling score among Maltese players and a more evenly distributed set of attributes:
- 80 pace
- 69 shooting
- 64 passing
- 75 dribbling
- 38 defending
- 74 physical
The Middle Tier of the Maltese List
Behind the two leaders come four players with ratings ranging from 63 to 65. Jake Brimmer takes third place (65), Jodi Jones and Dylan Sciclúna sit close together at 64, while James Carragher rounds out this group with a score of 63.
The gap between the upper and lower portions of the list is quite noticeable. James Sissons and Lucas Sciclúna each received 54, while Gunner Elliott sits at the bottom of the list with a rating of 52. All three fall into the bronze card category.
It is worth noting that the presence of Lucas Sciclúna has been confirmed by EA’s official database, correcting his absence from the graphic that had previously circulated on social media.
Where Did Malta’s Top-Rated Player from the Previous Edition Go
One of the most notable changes compared to the previous edition of the simulator is the absence of Teddy Teuma. In EA Sports FC 26, he was considered the highest-rated Maltese player with a rating of 75 and was listed under Stade de Reims.
In the summer of 2026, the 32-year-old midfielder joined Sliema Wanderers on a two-year contract. This transfer is recorded in the Malta Football Association database.
Teddy Teuma’s absence from the FC 27 list aligns logically with his move to the domestic league, which has traditionally not been included in the game’s full database. EA, however, offers no direct explanation for his absence on the ratings page.

How EA Determines Player Ratings
The FC 27 database features more than 21,000 footballers. According to EA, ratings are determined on the basis of match data and football expertise. On the official page for Malta, the company separately highlights the three highest-rated players in the national team, which includes Irvin Cardona, Ilyas Chouaref, and Jake Brimmer.
Why Tracking Ratings Matters Just as Much as Tracking Bonuses
For those who play EA Sports FC seriously, these figures matter just as much as bonus information does for MMORPG fans. Players who keep track of giveaways, promo codes, and bonuses on a specialized website can claim a large number of interesting items for free. That is why many gamers keep such sites bookmarked.
In the football simulator, knowledge of the database plays the same role as those bonuses. For esports players and active Ultimate Team participants, a rating determines who to include in the squad and how to build tactics. A winger with 89 pace like Irvin Cardona enables runs in behind, while the technically gifted Ilyas Chouaref — with the best dribbling among Maltese players — is more effective in a possession-based attack. A budget bronze card with the right set of attributes can often provide an advantage that would otherwise have to be purchased with in-game currency.
That is precisely why official EA data is more valuable than any inaccurate graphic from social media: it allows players to determine in advance which Maltese players will be useful in the squad and which ones are better left on the bench.
