Mosta claimed their first major honour in women’s football after defeating champions Birkirkara in the Women’s Super Cup final on Monday.
Nora Agliano put Birkirkara ahead mid-way through the first half but Dorianne Theuma levelled matters. Rebecca D’Agostino notched the winner for Mosta in the second half.
Last year, Birkirkara won the Women’s Super Cup after defeating Hibernians 2-0. They won the Women’s First Division League by staying unbeaten and dropping just three points in draws. Finally the Stripes defeated Hibernians 4-0 in the Women’s Knock-Out final. Mosta, on the other hand, finished in the runner-up position in the Women’s First Division League.
