Referee handed life-ban

The Board to Investigate Corrupt Practices handed a life-ban to referee Pierre Saliba. He was being charged with regards to an attempt of corruption in a game in which he was not involved, neither as a referee nor as an assistant referee.
In March, the association had announced that the board had suspended Saliba from all football activities as he was being investigated. He was later arraigned in court over the same case.
Meanwhile the board has concluded investigations on a number of Premier League matches following allegations which were carried out in various anonymous letters. The games involved are Tarxien Rainbows vs Hamrun Spartans, Marsaxlokk vs Floriana and Qormi vs Tarxien Rainbows which were played last season. In all of these cases, the board would continue its investigations if there were further developments in the investigation by police.
