Valletta and Hamrun Spartans will be playing for the Mare Blu Cup on August 27 at the Victor Tedesco, kick-off at 19:30, in what is planned to be an annual event. Details about the Mare Blu Cup were given during a press conference which wad held at the Mare Blu Premises in Valletta.
The representatives from the two clubs – Mr. Gaetano Debattista and Mr. Joseph Fenech for Hamrun and Mr. Paul Spiteri and Mr. Jesmond Zammit for Valletta – all agreed that this is a good opportunity for these two clubs to show their strenght when everyone is aware of the fact that they stand for probably the best two groups of supporters on the island. They said that this is a cup which is expected to take its place in the Maltese football calendar.
Mr. Massimo Cappitta explained that this cup is an idea which he and his brother had and which had now became a reality. He insisted that the main aim is to made the two clubs co-operate between each other for the good of football. Mr. Cappitta wished success to both clubs and said that the clubs will benefit from the sale of tickets for the Mare Blu Cup as the company was covering all expenses.
The Mare Blu Cup will be screened by Melita as Mr. Sandro Micallef from Melita plc said that this was being organised in a professional way and was not a one-off match.
Tickets are for sale at the two band clubs in Hamrun, Teasers Bar, Fenech Arredamenti, both football clubs, L-Amerikan in Valletta and Tip Top Fgura
Supporters are encouraged to buy tickets as early as possible due to the the limited number of tickets on sale.
